New York Blog: Travel Essentials!
WHATS UP NEW YORK: CAMILLE IS LIVING OUT LOUD!
Hey what's up its ya girl Camille and I am back with another blog! I am apart of a military family and traveling has always been apart of my life! I've always loved the preparation and getting what you need. It has all been fun for me. But what I loved the most was figuring our what I was going to wear to the airport. Sometimes when you pull up at the airport you've got to walk in their like it is a runway and your a supermodel. You've got to work it! So here are a few of my favorite comfortable clothing items and some tips as well as a review of my 2016 New York trip!

STYLE
1. The first clothing item I would choose is a turtleneck. Especially for the air port and flight I would go for the heavier ones versus the thin ones because it would keep you warm longer! I would pair that with a long woolen cotton coat or a light weight jean jacket it doesn't matter the colors but for me I would go for the more neutral colors. I would wear this outfit in the winter but I am stupid and too lazy so I would end up wearing this in the summer If it was up to me!

2. When the weather is nice and you feel like taking a stroll through the park and prancing around. I recommend that you wear a skirt so you can feel free. But I recommend the mid thigh length skirts that way it is not too short but not too long as well!

Tip: There are many different variations of style choices and apparel to choose from. Especially when it comes to going to places lie New York you'd want to dress up a little and step outside your comfort zone! You could go from elegant to gothic, exotic to casual, and everything in-between! You could go trendy and wear the latest fashion trends like bralettes paired with the flowy wide legged satin pants and you can pair that off with a little black purse. Or you could go for the more casual look and wear a basic whit t-shirt and a pair of black skinny jeans. There is the exotic look and style, which is my favorite style because you can wear something that nobody has ever seen before. Like a bold and mysterious choice consisting of various vibrant colors, crazy prints, intricate embroidery, a meat suit, banana shoes, it doesn't matter just step outside of your comfort zone and explore!
These are two of my favorite places: Time Square and Carnegie Hall
Tips:
1. A little tip is to try not to move your instrument and drop things because it creates a massive sound.
2.Make sure that you always are attentive because the director may change something that is vital to the piece.
3.Go with the flow. Don't be difficult and complicated.
4.Have fun! No one likes a Debby downer!
Audition process and my experience: When I first auditioned for Carnegie Hall I was in the eighth grade and when I found out I made it in for the band to play Bass Clarinet I was psyched. How I began was my music director/ choir teacher entered in some students to be nominated to audition and when I found out I jumped at the chance and hoped to succeed. What you do for your audition is that you send in an audio recording you yourself singing a song but you have to choose one from the song book named "The twenty- four Italian songs and Arias of the Seventeen and Eighteen Centuries" or playing an instrument! If you want to look into it here is the website: www.honorsperformance.org
When I got there on June 22,2016 I was just ready to begin and the first thing on the itinerary was to go down to the lobby and check in with you assigned group leader and get your name tag and red wristband which you had to keep on at all times so that they know how to identify you as being apart of the program and then they take you on a tour and depending on the time they take you out for lunch. All around New York there are awesome restaurants filled with wonderful smells and taste!
So if you are ever there try their pizza, they come in huge slices!
History:
Carnegie Hall truly is a beautiful place. The concert hall is located in Midtown Manhattan 881 7th Ave, New York, NY 10019. An honor roll of incredible musicians representing the finest of every single genre has filled the stage of Carnegie Hall filling the walls with their lovely art. Like George Gershwin, The Beatles, Billie Holiday, Tchaikovsky and many more wonderful talent has grazed the floors of Carnegie Hall! Carnegie Hall; built by William Tuthill has the capacity of 2, 804 people and never fails to disappoint! It is known as one of the most prestigious venues in the world for both classical music and popular music, so to me its how I imagine going to Yale is like!
Wardrobe: We are expected to wear a white blouse and black slacks paired with shiny black tuxedo shoes or women's oxford shoes, as long as it is not high heels and they meet the criteria its fine.
Broadway:
We got the opportunity to see Matilda the musical on Broadway. We also walked around Times Square, explored and had lots of fun! I think the best part for me would be seeing my first ever Broadway show. It was so marvelous and breath-taking to see how awesome and emotion- filled a performance was. When the artist puts their all into something the end result could my life changing!

HOW TO PREPARE FOR YOUR TRAVEL:
Before going to very large places I normally do some mental calming so I don't go into overdrive. Often times when I feel like there is too much going on my eyes feel dizzy and I feel a euphoric feeling, a rush of emotions and an intense state of transcendent happiness and confusion combined with an overwhelming sense of contentment. But sometimes it comes onto me too much and becomes way too powerful and that is when I start to feel sick or start to feel like I am dreaming and depersonalization in in a state of becoming. When I feel this way on my trip it takes a toll on my mentally and physically but I cant explain it in words that will make sense. But in order for me to somewhat prevent that I try to meditate and sometimes I even block out the world so I don't go internally crazy. But even when I feel this way I still try to go about my day with feelings of great hope and an open heart!

TIPS: The Do's and Don'ts of Traveling:
Do
- If you know you are going to be gone for about a week make sure that you pack more than five outfits because you may sweat, you need a formal wear etc.
- If you are going to wear heels make sure that you have flats with you.
- Depending on how long you are gone for make sure you pack enough underwear ,bras, pads, deodorant etc.
- Bring your deodorant everywhere with you because you may be sweaty from all the walking.
Don't
- Don't walk with your head down on a phone, look up and enjoy the simple beauty in the tall building and artifacts.
- Don't try to carry everything in your hands, make sure that you have a purse or a bag handy!
- Don't get irritated. There is a lot of foot traffic so if someone bumps into you don't take it personal, just continue on your journey!
- Don't travel alone. Be sure to always travel with a buddy. New York is a very large place so to make sure you don't get lost keep a buddy in hand!
- Finally, last but not least, New York is expensive so be sure to travel with some money. Don't travel broke
Overall, Just do you Boo!
So good, keep it up!!!!
